We moved to Ramsgate in 1949, so Dad could play football for Ramsgate. In the mid 1950's, when I was 9 or 10 years of age, I traversed the ledge beneath the Ramsgate West cliff. We (me and my mates) gained access at the western edge of the harbour, just past Jacobs Ladder and walked all the way across, to the area around the West cliff lift.
